How much does it cost to reupholster a sofa in Gurgaon?

Reupholstering a three seater modern sofa at Jagdish Store costs from about ₹26,940: 13.5 metres of Bikaner collection fabric at ₹1,440 a metre, plus re-covering labour from ₹2,500 a seat. The exact figure is confirmed after a free home visit in Delhi NCR and Gurgaon, before anything is cut.

What goes into the price

Every reupholstery quote is made of two parts:

  • Fabric, priced by the metre. Our current upholstery fabrics run from ₹695 to ₹1,780 a metre.
  • Labour, priced by the seat. Re-covering starts at ₹2,500 per seat for every sofa and chair style, and ottomans, benches and headboards are ₹2,500 a piece.

How many metres you need depends on the shape of the sofa. A modern or Chesterfield sofa takes about 4.5 metres per seat, an Indian carved sofa about 3.5, a single seater sofa chair or a recliner 6 metres, and a slipper chair 4 metres. Each figure covers the seat and the back.

What it costs, piece by piece

These examples use Bikaner collection fabric at ₹1,440 a metre and the starting labour rate. Your final figure depends on the fabric you choose and on your frame.

Choosing a different fabric changes only the fabric column. The same three seater in Lukora at ₹1,780 a metre comes to ₹24,030 for fabric, or ₹31,530 with labour from ₹7,500.

What can push the number up

A large pattern

Plain fabrics and small textures can be cut in any direction, so very little is wasted. A big motif or a bold stripe has to line up across the back, the seat and the cushions, which uses extra fabric. Our tailor checks the repeat on your chosen fabric before cutting.

The frame, the foam and the stitching

Labour starts at ₹2,500 a seat, and the final figure depends on the frame, the foam and the stitching detail you choose. That is why it is quoted at the home visit rather than online.

Extra cushions

Loose scatter cushions are separate from the per seat figure. You can add them in the same order, choosing each cushion size and quantity.

How the free home visit works

Book the tailor's visit online by date and time. Slots run every hour from 11 am to 6 pm, any day, from tomorrow up to 60 days ahead, and the visit is free in Delhi NCR and Gurgaon. The tailor measures your actual frame, confirms the metres and gives the labour estimate.

If the final work comes to more than you paid at order, the difference is added to your final bill. If it comes to less, the difference is refunded.

Is it cheaper to reupholster or to buy a new sofa?

That depends on the sofa. A well-built frame you love is often worth re-covering, and you get to choose any fabric from our racks. At the free visit our tailor looks at the frame and foam and gives you an honest estimate, so you can compare before deciding.

For most Delhi NCR homes, a winter bed needs four things: a quilt chosen by its weight, a cotton duvet cover over it, a blanket you can add on the coldest nights, and a pillow that suits the way you sleep. Get the quilt right first, because it does most of the work, then build the rest around it. Start with the quilt The weight of a quilt's filling is written as GSM, grams per square metre. A higher number usually means a warmer, heavier quilt, so this one figure is the quickest way to compare two quilts on a screen. Put a cotton cover over it Your duvet cover keeps the quilt clean, so you wash the cover through the season and leave the quilt alone. It is also the layer you actually touch, which makes the fabric worth choosing with care. Thread count changes how a cover feels. Measure the quilt, not the bed, and pick the cover that matches it, so the quilt does not slide and bunch inside.
